She held the photo close to her heart and, looking at him, she remembered the day she lost her lover. She remembered laughter and joy, and it made her sad.

The grandson knew that he had made the right decision. He didn’t try to copy the photo, he just saw his grandmother reminiscing about the old days, so he decided to cut something out so that she could remember the current days. When he gave her a gift, her eyes widened in surprise. “This is us!” she said. And he knew that she would cherish this for the rest of her life. Grandmother smiled. “Thank you,” she said. “I’ll treasure this.”

“I want you to remember the old days,” said the grandson. “But I also want you to remember these days. To see how much you have changed over the years. And so you can see how much I love you.”
